History Of Churches In VallettaBefore
the building of Valletta, the mass of globigerina limestone projecting
between the two harbours, referred to as mount Sceberras, already
hosted a small niche of St Paul, as well as three chapels dedicated to
St Lucy, St Nicholas and St Elmo. It appears that the chapels dedicated
to St Elmo, which was situated at the extreme end of the peninsula next
to a watch tower, pre dates 1488.
